As a lead member of Fishery Improvement Project (FIP), and the first implementer of an industry lead FIP, we focus on the Marine Stewardship Council’s three principles:

Sustainable Fish Stocks
Minimizing Environmental Impact
Effective Fisheries Management

Seals/Certifications

Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Certified Sustainable

The MSC mark identifies seafood products that meet three designating principles and score 80% or higher on 28 Performance Indicators. Products that meet these standards are considered sustainable and deserve public support. Since achieving MSC certification, Norpac has worked toward social and economic sustainability for the fisheries we support.

Seafood Watch

The Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program recommends fish to eat based on the state of specific fisheries. The program makes it easier for fishermen to monitor their improvements on the water.

Fish with green labels are “best choice,” yellow are “good alternatives,” and red are “fish to avoid.” These are based on the level of sustainability of the fishery.

Fishery Improvement Projects (FIP)

Our unique FIP strategy involves using technology to remove any blemishes within the supply chain. We encourage other industry members with local, national, and regional governance bodies to harmonize efforts and share data with environmental Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), to ensure efficiency and best practices throughout the FIP process.
